Question Themes:
- Mother/Child Relationship - closeness, protective of children, heart wrenching to see bullying and not react to it.
- Bullying - members felt that it is different today than years ago in that the internet, phone, and social media play a role in it. Adult bullying happens! Children see it modeled by parents and do it too.
- Helicopter Parents - felt that Rose did well observing the situation first before reacting to the girls teasing and making fun of her daughter. Felt that she and Leo were good parents. Tried to teach her independence and coping skills. Safety of child is not negotiable.
- Physical Blemish - members felt that students in school are now more accepting of students who are "different"; acceptance, compassion are being taught in the classrooms.
- Volunteering - many did not know the "risks" in volunteering and being held liable for incidences.
- Leo/Rose Relationship - secret in Rose's past hurt their relationship; need to work on honesty and trust; many felt marriage counseling was in their future.
- Amanda - many liked that in the end the two girls were working on a relationship and would be friends.
- Rose's roles - she was a mom, cafeteria volunteer, sleuth, and action figure.
