Julia's Chocolates by Cathy Lamb

Lori chose the book and hosted the meeting.

Lori read this book and wanted book club members to experience and love it as much as she had. She had a wonderful chocolate fondue with a variety of dippers, and a delicious Texas caviar.

When in high school, the author, Cathy Lamb, wrote for her school newspaper. She went on to become a 4th grade teacher, which she said allowed her time to write at night and during the summer break. After the birth of her twins, she stopped teaching and wrote for a local newspaper. All of her books have an issue that the characters are dealing with. Julia's Chocolates was published in 2007 and was the first novel she sold.

We felt a main theme of the book was acceptance of others and their eccentricities. The characters were quirky but likeable. There was a good balance of drama and humor. Most found the book to be quite entertaining.

Carol W.'s quote of the day. . . " Someone's a lot funnier when you're not living with them!"

The average score was 7.37.
