Carol W. chose the book and Judy hosted our Christmas party.
Each person brought a dish to share for our dinner.
We briefly discussed the Richard Paul Evans book, A Perfect Day. People felt it was predictable but overall, a good, easy read for the time of year. Mr. Evans is a prolific writer whose most popular book is The Christmas Box. Other books to enjoy by this author are The Divide and Smoke Jumper. Carol W. shared that this book was the author's wife's least favorite because it came too close to their own lives.
As always, Judy had two fun games to play, and then we picked from the wrapped book selection. During our annual book exchange, this is the list of books we shared as gifts:
Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline
Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King
What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarity
Shell Seekers by Rosamund Pilcher
The Timekeeper by Mitch Albom
I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy
Brooklyn by Colm Toibin
The Violinist of Venice by Alyssa Palombo
Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult (this book was our only double!)
The Monkey Wrench Gang by Edward Abbey
The Longest Run by Nicholas Sparks
Other books mentioned that have been enjoyed recently were:
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
The Storyteller by Jodi Picault
Thanks again to Judy for hosting a great Holiday Get Together. Good food, great friends and a brand new listing of books to read!! What more could a person want?!
