Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Lucia chose the book and hosted the meeting.

Lucia shared that the author was raised in Kansas City by parents who are professors. She is a movie geek who has a journalism degree. She worked for "Entertainment Weekly" for 10 years before being laid off. She currently lives in Chicago. Gillian also write Sharp Objects and Dark Places.

There were mixed reviews of this book. Some loved it, others hated it, and there were a few non-committals in between. Some of the phrases to describe the book were:
  • characters deserved each other
  • meticulously planned plot
  • scary crazy people
  • twists and turns all the way to the end
  • bad lifetime movie
  • both characters were "dark"
  • fake diary was evil
  • disgusting that they would have a baby in that relationship
  • hard to put down
  • Amy's parents made her too perfect
  • "Cool Amy" was difficult for Amy to live up to
  • Easy to read
  • Unlikable characters
  • Page turner
  • Suspenseful
  • Hated the ending
