Christmas Party 2014

Thank you, Judy, for hosting the Christmas party, and for leading us in fun games. Great middle and last name stories, and. . . who knew wrapping a present with someone could be so hilarious, challenging and competitive. Have to love the competitive spirit of our bunch! The food and beverages everyone brought were delicious. The highlight of the evening is always the book exchange, especially trying to guess the book title based on the gift wrap.

Meeting Summary:

  • The Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore, the optional Christmas party read, was not a hit.
  • Skipping Christmas by John Grisham is the book selection for the next "Christmas in January Party" (2015).
  • The books exchanged this year were as follows:
    • The Storyteller by Jodi Picault (2)
    • The Tulip Eaters by Antoinette van Heugten
    • Chasing the Dime by Michael Connelly
    • Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage: Stories by Alice Munro
    • The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picault
    • The Wolf of Wall Street by Jordan Belfort
    • Bodies of Water by T. Greenwood
    • Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed
    • The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh
    • House Girl by Tara Conklin
    • The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriana Trigiani
    • Home Front by Kristin Hannah
The book selections surely will give us some great ideas for future meetings, or simply great ideas for reads in between our meetings.

Interesting Lit-Wit Fact:

Someone asked how many books the Lit-Wits have read to date. Here's the run down:
2006 - 9
2007 - 8
2008 - 9
2009 - 8
2010 - 9
2011 - 8
2012 - 8
2013 - 8
         67 Grand Total

WOW!!!!! We've read 67 books together. That is really quite incredible. We should take a picture of Judy's book shelf for an official Lit-Wits' e-scrapbook. There was a pattern that in even years we read 9 books, and in odd years we read 8 books, but that ended in 2010.

Happy winter reading. . . Thing spring!
